Ferticab 0.5 is indicated for:
- Hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin levels)
- Prolactin-secreting tumors (prolactinomas)
- Infertility associated with elevated prolactin
- Galactorrhoea (abnormal milk secretion)
- Suppression of lactation (e.g., after stillbirth, miscarriage, or abortion)
- Parkinson’s disease (as monotherapy or adjunct)
- Pituitary adenomas
- Acromegaly and Cushing’s disease
- Uterine fibroids
Dosage & Administration
- Should be taken with food to minimize gastrointestinal side effects
- Swallow tablets whole with water
- Dosage depends on the condition and patient response
Typical Adult Doses
- Lactation inhibition: 1 mg as a single dose (day 1 postpartum)
- Lactation suppression: 250 mcg every 12 hours for 2 days
- Hyperprolactinemia:
- Start: 0.5 mg per week
- Increase gradually (monthly) by 0.5 mg/week
- Usual dose: 1 mg/week (up to 4.5 mg/week)
- Parkinson’s disease:
- Initial: 0.5–1 mg daily
- Gradual titration up to max 3 mg/day
Elderly patients and those with liver impairment may require lower doses.
